Bollywood Dance: Lesson Two Review

SUMMARY
In this dance lesson, we added more steps to the dance and practiced the routine a few more times so that we all knew it off by heart. We also worked on our footwork and hand gestures with Ms Hainstock in order to perfect the routine so far.

WHAT EXACTLY WE DID
At the start of the lesson, we moved the tables and chairs to clear off the space in the room while Ms Hainstock found the Jai Ho dance video on youtube which we were learning off last lesson. Then, she helped us learn the rest of the moves that were shown; however, since a few of us struggled to get the hand - foot co ordination, she made us do "the jumping on the spot" (one of things we were struggling with) in partners, then made us do it a straight line formation and then we did it one by one in front of the class so that she could check all of us. After mastering that, we worked on the formation of the hands while dancing  ( what to do with them while dancing) so that the dance looks graceful and how we are meant to be looking at our hands while dancing to make it look more professional. We also learnt the rest of the moves the video showed by the help of Ms Hainstock who broke each step down further in order to teach us.
After practising it a few more times (as we kept going out of sink), she asked Ms Harris, Holly and Mrs Monito to join us so we showed them what we have learned so far and then taught them what we have learnt. Sara, Rajan and me started off by teaching them step by step, the way Ms Hainstock taught us, then Minazul and Jaydeep joined us too. Holly picked it up the fastest (probably because she used to do dancing) but Ms Harris and Mrs Monito did a great job too. They did it twice themselves and then in the third one, some of us joined them.
By the end of the lesson, we had mastered the first hand - foot co-ordination move, learnt the rest of first bit of the routine, taught 3 teachers how to do it  and then did it with them. At the end of the lesson, we put the tables and the chairs back but most of us were proud because we worked so hard and got so much done. I am so glad that I am doing this unit with such wonderful people who tried not to laugh when one of us messed up (although we still had a lot of banter!) , everyone was trying to encourage each other and helping each other out.

EASY AND DIFFICULT PARTS
I suppose the hand-foot-eye co ordination part of the routine was a bit hard but I didn't exactly find that difficult to learn (probably because I use to learn Bollywood and Street Dancing). I think, although the whole of the first bit was very straight forward, the hard part was to teach the teachers how to do it even though I knew what I was doing; maybe because I sometimes think that it is easier to learn than to teach.
I think the easiest part was learning the routine because it was so straight forward and ms Hainstock simplified it so much that it was easy to pick up; however, in order to improve, I think we really need to work on our timings.
